Norfolk Hunt Foxhunting Clinic
Norfolk is the place to be on Labor Day weekend! Norfolk will host a foxhunting clinic on Saturday September 1, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. The Norfolk Hunt Field Hunter Show will follow the clinic the next day, on Sunday, September 2, 2012. Plan to expose your horse to the obstacles found in hunt country on Saturday, and then compete over similar obstacles on Sunday. It's a great way for you and your horse to spend the weekend and prepare for the fall season.
Richard Wood, a Norfolk Hunt member and USEA ICP Level II trainer from Thompson, CT, will lead the foxhunting clinic. Rich will divide participants into groups -- based on rider/trainer ability--and will work on both the flat and over fences. Participants are not required to jump if they would prefer to work solely on the flat.
Horses and riders must be comfortable in open country and in the company of other horses. Instruction on foxhunting etiquette and proper turnout for horse and rider will be included, as will brief exposure to the Norfolk foxhounds. A potluck tailgate with Rich Wood will follow the event, so participants have the opportunity to ask questions on a one-on-one basis.
Participants are asked to bring a dish to share at the potluck, in order to participate in the tailgate lunch. The Norfolk Hunt Club will provide beverages and dessert.
Limited space is available at this event. For information, contact: juliepwheeler@aol.com or (860) 377-0474.
